Tommy Hilfiger, which is part of PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH], announces that global style icons and Brand Ambassadors Damson Idris and Sofia Richie Grainge joined Tommy and Dee Hilfiger, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit on May 5, 2025, in New York City. Building on TOMMY HILFIGER’s legacy of creating unforgettable moments that fuse fashion, sport and entertainment, Damson Idris pulled up in a race car from the highly anticipated movie, F1, premiering next month, in an arrival moment that blended impeccable tailoring with star power.
Taking center stage, Damson Idris arrived in an APXGP car from the F1 film, wearing a custom TOMMY HILFIGER race suit inspired by the movie and a showstopping red, white, and blue helmet adorned with close to 20’000 hand-placed Swarovski crystals. Embracing this year’s theme, ‘Tailored for You,’ he later stepped out of the suit to reveal a bespoke TOMMY HILFIGER tuxedo—shifting from racetrack energy to red carpet elegance as he joined Sofia Richie Grainge, Tommy, and Dee Hilfiger on the steps of the Met Gala.
A defining face of modern fashion, Sofia Richie Grainge embodied the power of her ongoing partnership with TOMMY HILFIGER, which has helped to shape a refined, modern expression for womenswear. Her continued collaboration follows the recent Sofia for Tommy collection, a moment that captured a generation’s attention through its timeless elegance and effortless take on American style.
Over the years, Tommy Hilfiger has celebrated cultural trailblazers at the Met Gala, where under the global spotlight, today’s cultural icons shape tomorrow’s fashion history. Leading the vision behind scene-stealing looks crafted by his design team, he has dressed previous guests including Stray Kids, Zendaya and Jack Harlow, now joined by Damson Idris, star of the forthcoming movie, F1. A lifelong motorsports fan, Tommy has infused racing into the brand’s DNA for decades, from sponsoring Formula 1®️ teams to collaborating with racing legends and partnering with the film, F1. That legacy continues with Damson, now channeling the thrill of the track into a standout Met Gala appearance.
This year's Superfine: Tailoring Black Style exhibit explores the importance of style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora, particularly in the United States and Europe. The evening was co-chaired by Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton and Colman Domingo. Inspired by this year’s dress code, Tailored for You, TOMMY HILFIGER delivered one of the night’s defining statements. The dress code was interpreted in many ways, from reimagined tartan prints and modern dandy flare to voluminous bows and silhouettes that balanced structure and softness.
Damson Idris wore a rouge tuxedo offering a contemporary take on Tommy Tartan, originally created in 2000 and listed on the official Scottish Register of Tartans. Inspired by signature color-blocked shirts of the ‘90s, the heritage check was reimagined across the blazer, contrasting with gold beading and custom buttons in a twist on classic American tailoring. A satin lapel brought a classic elegance, while the inner lining reinterpreting a timeless Ithaca stripe in powder blue, subtly detailed with a gold accent.
The look was completed with tailored tuxedo pants featuring a side satin stripe and a gentle flare from the knee in a nod to modern dandyism. A tonal white tuxedo shirt provided a crisp contrast beneath the blazer. As a final statement, Damson wore a bespoke brooch and jewelry created by his personal brand, DIDRIS, emblems of craftsmanship that unite traditional techniques with forward-thinking artistry.
Sofia Richie Grainge wore a custom ecru statuesque ball gown with a voluminous dandy-inspired bow. A refined balance of structure and softness, the matte crepe bodice flowed seamlessly into a cream, glossed bow, amplified in scale for dramatic effect. Nodding to tailoring, a classic cummerbund was reinterpreted as an elegant neckline and back detail, in a way that feels sensuous, minimal and gracefully poised.
Tommy Hilfiger wore a custom TOMMY HILFIGER X Denis Frison tailed tuxedo suit. Crafted from vintage cloth with an interrupted pinstripe, the suit was detailed with red lining and satin lapels. He paired the jacket with elegant tuxedo style pants, a pique waistcoat and classic white shirt with coordinating bow tie.
Dee Hilfiger wore a bespoke tailored gown with a cinched waist and sharp, structured shoulder. Designed in a complementary palette to Tommy Hilfiger’s tuxedo, the look was adorned with a gray chalk pinstripe and a degradé scattering of crystals and rhinestones. A black satin lapel and elongated tails that trail into a soft train paid homage to classic dandy tailoring. The look was styled with a white wing collar shirt and red, white and blue crystal tie with a preppy stripe. She finished the statement with a crystal-encrusted clutch bearing the iconic Tommy flag.
Apple Original Films’ F1 will be distributed in theaters around the world and in IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures in North America on June 27, 2025, and internationally beginning June 25, 2025.
