Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive, an innovative collection of clothing designed to make dressing easier for adults and children with disabilities, will launch in Europe for Spring 2020. The Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive collection features the same classic American cool with a twist designs as other TOMMY HILFIGER collections for men, women and kids. In line with TOMMY HILFIGER’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and diversity, Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive styles are designed to promote ease of movement with easy closures, seated-wear solutions and fits for prosthetics.
More than one billion people globally live with a disability, making something as simple as getting dressed each day a challenge. Inspired by their experiences and Mr. Tommy Hilfiger’s own history of having children with autism, a promise was made to rethink the design process and uncover solutions that democratize fashion, providing adults and children with greater freedom and confidence. To kickoff this mission, Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive launched in the United States in Spring 2016 for kids, followed by an adult collection in Fall 2017. The line will now be rolling out across Europe, Japan and Australia, bringing adjustable and fashionable comfort to an international audience.
The Spring 2020 Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive collection features a menswear color-block jacket in the brand’s heritage palette and a navy zip-up jacket with a pastel to pair with a plaid button-up shirt. This season, women can enjoy a polo dress or striped shirt-dress with a waist tie. Girls can opt for playful, striped dresses, while boys can combine lightweight jackets and modified shorts. Easy-on branded T-shirts run throughout the collection in all categories.
Some of the hidden Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive solutions include magnetic closures and extended zipper pulls to aid those with limited dexterity. Side-seam openings, adjustable hems and wide-leg openings accommodate leg braces, orthotics and casts. Seated styles feature a low front to reduce bunching and a higher back for modesty. Adjustable straps, elastic waists and easy-open necklines make getting clothing on and off simpler. Draw-chords, adjustable straps and elastic pull-up loops make it more comfortable to pull up bottoms. The collection is also free of uncomfortable pockets and seams.
